One person found this helpful. I like reading this Manual of Mineralogy Mineral Science 23rd edition. It is easy reading for a scientist. It has some color pages of minerals; but most of the book is black and white prints of minerals. There is a lot of interesting material to read in this book. I have had an earlier edition too which I don't have with me now; so I ordered this 23rd edition. Very well structured book with plenty of background information and a great index for referencing what you need, and often several different references individual entry, entries in various tables easy to make comparisons.
Reading the general stuff at the beginning can be a little dry at times, but very few textbooks aren't like that. This is a fantastic resource! If you are a student, do yourself a favor and do not sell this book back! It will continue to be of great help to you. Bought this for my mineralogy class, obviously, and the book was used but still in good shape.
